What You’ll Experience at the Farmers and Threshers Jubilee
As the colors of fall complement our hilly countryside, the Laurel Highlands showcases seasonal festivals like the Farmers and Threshers Jubilee. Read over our local insights and find out everything you need to know about this year’s event!
A Preservation of 19th Century Life
For over 60 years, the Farmers and Threshers Jubilee features the machines from the early days of the Laurel Highlands. The roots of our rolling landscape have deep ties to the land and farming. As you walk around this event, you’ll see a diverse collection of antique vehicles, including model tractors, steam engines, and dog-powered machines.
Another part of our early days includes threshing. This intricate process successfully removed the loosened chaff from cereal grains. You can see a ground hog thresher, tread power threshing, and feed grinder machine. While you are there, watch demonstrations of these compelling machines in action!
Every year, the New Centerville Fire Department presents the Farmers and Threshers Jubilee. Each day of this celebration boasts fun-filled demonstrations, competitive contests, and special guests showing off their craft. When you attend, here some exciting events you’ll see!
- Quilt contests
- Photo displays
- Scarecrow competition
- Pumpkin decorating
- Apple pie competition (one of our favorites)
- The Grand Jubilee Parade
- Cement block demonstrations
- Dennis Beach Woodcarver
This is just an overview of what you’ll find at this year’s festivities. In addition to the activities, indulge in the slow cooked food, shop the unique craft stands, and make the most of your time here!
