3 Free Things to Do in Pittsburgh

Self-Guided Tours Downtown

One of our favorite free things to do in Pittsburgh is to enjoy a self-guided tour downtown. The city has implemented multiple tours that you can download directly to your phone and follow to some of the area’s biggest attractions. Admire famous buildings, have lunch in the best restaurants, and learn more about Pittsburgh’s history!

Visit a Farmers Market

There’s nothing like tasting local food and meeting interesting characters from the place you’re visiting. During your stay in PA, we recommend grabbing coffee in the city and hitting the road to discover the top Laurel Highlands farmers markets. You’ll find fresh products from nearby farms and can explore quaint towns in the area. This is also a great activity for a couple’s getaway

Tip: Remember to bring cash with you! The last thing you’ll want to do is drive around in search of an ATM on Pennsylvania’s country roads (though our roads are beautiful!)

Hit the Trails

Of course, the ultimate free activity is a peaceful walk in nature, and our area has so many state parks to offer. Experience the Laurel Highlands on foot and prepare to be dazzled by the gorgeous scenery around youLinn Runn State Park and Ohiopyle State Park are a short driving distance from the city and boast beautiful hiking trails that will help you clear your mind.
