Best of all, the Youghiogheny River Gorge cuts right through the center of the park, providing excellent conditions for fishing and boating.
On top of lush forests and incredible landscapes, Ohiopyle State Park is home to some of the most gorgeous waterfalls in the state. Here are some of our favorites:
Tip: The Meadow Run Waterslides have a rare geological formation that will delight any explorer! Visitors are allowed to ride them, but they are known for their powerful currents and spinning rocks, so be careful.
On top of being a delight for your sight, Ohiopyle State Park is also a fun area where several adventures await you. Here are some of the activities you can enjoy in the park.
Whitewater Rafting: Ohiopyle State Park is known as one of the best spots for whitewater rafting in the eastern United States. The Lower section of the River Yough is ideal for it!
Hiking: The park offers several hiking trails for both beginners and experts. Roam through the deep forest and discover various natural wonders on your journey!
Biking and Horseback Riding: If you’re not much of a hiker, you can bike the Youghiogheny River Trail, which is part of a 318-mile off road trail connecting Pittsburgh and Washington, DC. If you want a more authentic experience, horseback riding is also available.
Hunting and Fishing: Don’t leave your passion at home! Bring your equipment with you this season and enjoy hunting and fishing at Ohiopyle State Park. Hunting groundhogs is forbidden, but you are allowed to hunt ruffed grouse, gray squirrels, wild turkeys, American black bears, white-tailed deer, and cottontail rabbits.
