How to Get to the Most Breathtaking Ohiopyle Waterfalls
Start your Ohiopyle waterfalls adventure with Ohiopyle Falls! Located right next to the visitor center, this waterfall has a drop of 20 feet and looks like a small version of Niagara Falls. Simply park your car in the parking lot and check out the viewing area on the side. Be sure to bring your camera so you can snap that perfect Instagram picture!
Cucumber Falls is one of the most stunning waterfalls in Ohiopyle and in the entire state of PA! This 30-foot waterfall is located less than 100 yards from the parking lot, making it easy to access. Get ready to discover more waterfalls when you stroll the Youghiogheny River Trail. This path takes you toward the Cascades and the water slides at Meadow Run Creek.
The natural waterslides of the Cascades are a must-see along the River Trail. In fact, they’re considered to be the most breathtaking area of Ohiopyle State Park! Delight in the scenery as the soothing sound of running water plays in your ears. The Cascades are peaceful and quiet, making for the perfect spot to nap or meditate!
Jonathan Run Falls
Located along the Jonathan Run Trail, Jonathan Run Falls are divided into two areas: the upper and lower falls.
- The Upper Jonathan Run Falls are in the northwest corner of Ohiopyle State Park at the intersection of the Kentuck Trail.
- Access to the falls is pretty steep and unmarked, so don’t venture out there recklessly!
- The Lower Jonathan Run Falls is also pretty hard to reach, but worth it if you are an experienced hiker. This 15-foot waterfall can be seen from the trail if you do not want to go all the way to the bottom. It’s located at the end of the Jonathan Run Trail at the Great Allegheny Passage.
Sugar Run Falls
Sugar Run is a quaint and lovely waterfall that will enchant you during your hike. After finishing the Jonathan Run Trail and turning onto the Great Allegheny Passage, find the Mitchell Field marker and walk up until you reach Sugar Run. The waterfall drops through the rocks and boulders that look like they belong to a J.R.R Tolkien book!
