How Much Time Do You Need?
The Wolf Rocks Trail is at the heart of Laurel Ridge State Park in Pennsylvania. This 4.3-mile trail is one of the best in the whole state, offering an easy hike with gorgeous vistas. Depending on your pace, the hike takes two to three hours, which makes it
ideal for visitors escaping the city on weekends and tourists passing through the Laurel Highlands!
The Wolf Rocks Trail is a loop that features some rooty and craggy terrain. Its level of difficulty is not too high, and it’s mostly accessible for all ages. Wolf Rocks also has an elevation change of 255 feet that leads to marvelous views of the countryside. The trail is well marked and provides a serene hike through the woods and long tunnels of rhododendrons. There’s nothing like reconnecting with nature! Simply tune in to the sound of chirping of birds while the breeze blows through the trees above you.
Tip: Take a left turn at the loop to make sure you complete the harder section of the trail first!
More About the Area
The Wolf Rocks Trail has several points of interests. First, it has fantastic overlooks at Wolf Rocks and Beam Rocks. Locals say they’re some of the best views in all of Pennsylvania! You’ll also see a river along the trail as well as hardwood trees, mountain laurel, and sandstone boulders. Other activities you can enjoy here include rock climbing and wildlife viewing.
If you are on a romantic getaway with your significant other, surprise them with a lovely picnic on the rocks! Picture you and your sweetheart snuggled up in a blanket with delicious cheese, charcuterie, and a gorgeous view in front of you.
Tip: Beware of rattlesnakes sunbathing on the rocks in the colder seasons.
