Stahlstown & Donegal
If you love hiking, then you’re in luck! The Stahlstown & Donegal area, where Oak Lodge is located, is an easy trek off property for adventurers. Start your day by hiking along the 70-mile Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. If you are visiting in the winter and wish to enjoy seasonal sports, head over to the Seven Springs Mountain Resort or Laurel Mountain State Park and go skiing! Need a quick refuel for your outdoor activities? Hit up our favorite caffeine spot, Silver Horse Coffee.
Ligonier
If you’re a history buff, then the Ligonier area is where you want to go. The Laurel Highlands was a flourishing area even before 1776, playing an important role in the French & Native American War. Learn more about the rich history in our area by visiting the Fort Ligonier Museum, Lincoln Highway Experience or the Ligonier Valley Railroad Museum.
We like to refer to this charming town as our own Hallmark movie set! Visit the Diamond for shopping, dining, entertainment & events. Check in with the Chamber for local happenings on your next stay.
Somerset County
If you’d rather take it easy during your vacation & enjoy some well-deserved retail therapy, then the antique stores in Somerset are perfect. Within each of them, you’ll learn a little more about our history, & you can take a piece of it home with you! Check out 1806 Uniques & Antiques, Merchant Village, Somerset Galleries & more. Enjoy some thrifting-retail therapy, then go sip on local wine at Glades Pike Winery. We recommend driving to the numerous historic covered bridges from the 1870s & 80s on your way back. It makes for a scenic road trip!
Fayette County
If you’re part of the niche that loves architecture, you are well-aware of the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. Did you know you can tour two of them in our area? Near Ohiopyle, you can take a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright House on Kentuck Knob & discover the famous Fallingwater home just 20 minutes away! It’s by far one of our favorite Laurel Highlands activities.
Greensburg
We didn’t forget about art lovers. To get inspired & browse local galleries, head over to Greensburg. Visit the Westmoreland Museum of American Art to view regionally & nationally acclaimed artwork or Stopwatch Gallery for unique pieces. Purchase tickets & catch a show at the circa 1926 Palace Theatre. Enjoy more opportunities for shopping, dining & coffee shops throughout town.
